TUSCALOOSA ROTARY HONOR FLIGHT
Count Tuscaloosa Rotary as a proud supporter of "Honor Flight," a non-profit program recognizing West A l a b a m a veterans for their sacrificial service that, in the words of Tom Brokaw,"answered the call, … won the war, …[and] saved the world." The Rotary
Board, at its September 14 meeting, approved the proposal to secure funding for senior veterans to visit the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC. President Jordan Plaster told Rotarians at the September 15 meeting that the first flight for the West Alabama area is planned for Spring 2010, a one-day trip to the Capital. After television news coverage of that announcement, he reports having had offers of contributions from supporters and inquiries from families of WWII vets. Jordan offered another quotation in support of the recognition due those who have given so much. Wi l l Rogers said, "We can't all be heroes. Some of us have to stand on the curb and clap as they go by."
