Posted By Thomas
Dr. Jeffrey Schultz is Fine Arts coordinator for the Tuscaloosa City Schools.
Schultz established his career in music education and performance through his work in the states of Texas, Illinois and Alabama. Serving first as a high school band director in Texas, Schultz went on to pursue a career in orchestral performance and higher education, serving on the music faculties of the University of Alabama, Baylor University, Stephen F. Austin State University and Eastern Illinois University while
performing with numerous local orchestras.
Following 15 years of performance and teaching secondary and post-graduate students, Schultz accepted a position with the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education teaching music in the elementary schools. This new position provided a welcome opportunity to share his passion for making music with a broad and enthusiastic
audience of up to 800 students per week.
In 2013, he left the music classroom to serve as Fine Arts coordinator, where he works vigorously to promote and support the city school system’s Arts in Education programs in visual art, theatre, choir, band, strings and dance. The recent opening of The Alberta School of Performing Arts marks a most exciting endeavor and area of focus for the years ahead.
Schultz remains active in professional arts organizations including the National Association for Music Education, Alabama Music Educators Association and the Arts Schools Network.
