Speaker Bio – Beverly E. Thorn, is Professor Emerita of Psychology at the University of
Alabama. She retired in 2016 to care for her husband, when he became
disabled with dementia. After he died in 2020, she earned certification as
an end-of-life doula. Dr. Thorn speaks and writes on the subject of aging,
dementia care, and end-of-life issues. Her new book, Before I Lose My Own
Mind: Navigating Life as a Dementia Caregiver, is a memoir and guidebook
focused on care for the caregiver.
