Osher LearningLast week Tuscaloosa Rotarians welcomed Dr. Sharon Shelton with OLLI. Dr. Shelton grew up in a Rotarian household in Athens, AL. OLLI is a member run program housed at the Bryant Conference Center. Classes are taught by volunteers, and members decided what classes are offered. Dr. Shelton stated that you don’t have to be a member of OLLI to be involved with their programs. Some of the classes offered in the spring are bridge, music appreciation, line dancing, colonial crafts and culture, and mythology. The programs do not require tests, grades, or homework. Shelton said OLLI is about “learning for the joy of learning”. OLLI is celebrating its 7th anniversary, and have over 500 members.
