Lesley McClure is regional executive and vice president of the Birmingham Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. She is responsible for the Branch’s board of directors, oversees Birmingham’s economic and financial education programs, and provides regional input into the Atlanta Fed’s monetary policy process.

McClure’s primary role is being the “face of the Federal Reserve” in the branch’s region, which covers the state

of Alabama. In this capacity, she represents the Fed in developing relationships and organizing and participating in activities throughout the region designed to gather both quantitative data and anecdotal grassroots information on economic conditions. This information helps Atlanta Fed President Dennis Lockhart and his staff of economists formulate monetary policy at Federal Open Market Committee meetings. McClure and others on her team are also actively involved in outreach activities to promote economic education and financial literacy in schools and communities throughout the region.

McClure joined the Bank in 1989 in human resources and held positions of increasing responsibility until her promotion in 2007 to business liaison, when she worked closely with the Federal Reserve System’s Retail Payments Office senior management providing strategic counsel in workforce planning, organizational development, compensation, recruiting, employee relations, policy and compliance, and communications. McClure has also played an influential role at the System level, supporting Atlanta Fed presidents’ participation in the Conference on Human Resources.

Before joining the Fed, McClure worked for Kurt Salmon Associates, a global management consulting firm. She earned a bachelor’s degree with honors in industrial management from Georgia Tech.
