Gary Andrew – Rotary District Governor – September 6th, 2016

gary-andrewGary Andrew was born in Siler City, North Carolina and raised on a dairy farm. Upon graduation from North Carolina State University, Gary served in the United States Army 26 years rising to the rank of Colonel. Following retirement from the Army, Gary served with the Corps of Engineers for 18 years and retired in March 2012. Gary has a MS Degree in Program Management from The University of Southern California.

Gary has held many Rotary responsibilities including President of the Rotary Club of Greater Huntsville. Gary chaired the inaugural North Alabama Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program at the US Space and Rocket Center in 2007. He served as District 6860 RYLA Chairman for three years, District Secretary for three years, Assistant Governor Coordinator, chaired the Membership Committee, served as District Trainer. He served as Executive Officer for the late Governor Phil Williams and chaired his District Conference Planning Committee.

Gary was awarded the Tom Milford Service above Self Award for Rotary Year 2012-2013, the highest District Award, in recognition of his service to the District.  He led the development of the first District 6860 3-year Strategic Plan in partnership with DG Williams and other senior district leaders. Responding to Rotary needs, Gary researched and authored the first District Leadership Plan (DLP) for the District. Gary is a Charter Member of the District Paul Harris Society and is a Major Donor.

Gary and his wife Joann have been married 49 years and have two children, Amanda Andrew-Brown and Neil Andrew and five Grandchildren. Gary and his family are active members of Trinity United Methodist Church where he recently chaired the Trustee Committee and served on the Finance Committee.
