Mayor Walt Maddox to receive an award from Rotary of Tuscaloosa

Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox was honored Thursday by the The Rotary Club of Tuscaloosa  in ceremonies at City Hall.  Maddox received the club’s 2011 Outstanding Leadership Award, which was presented by past club president Dr. James Shamblin, current president Warner Johnson and a delegation of club members.

In his remarks, Shamblin presented a plaque commending Maddox for his boundless courage, inspiring leadership and unparalleled commitment to Rotary International’s motto, “Service above Self.”  Maddox said he would accept the award on behalf of the city of Tuscaloosa’s employees whose bravery and unselfish community service have been vitally important to Tuscaloosa’s recovery in the aftermath of the April 27 tornado.

In addition to Shamblin and Johnson, Rotarians attending the ceremony included Rufus Lewis, Dr. Riley Lumpkin, Jerry Shepherd, Glenda Guyton, Clark Swail, Charles Nash, Lee Henderson and Kellee Reinhart.
