This week Rotarians will welcome Stephen Black, the Director of the University of Alabama Center for Ethics and Social Responsibility. He is also the President and Founder of Impact Alabama: A Student Services Organization.

Stephen graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 1993 and received his J.D. from Yale Law School in 1997. He worked at Maynard, Cooper, & Gale Law Firm, 1997-2000, and with the Office of the Governor of the State of Alabama, 2000-2001. Stephen created Impact Alabama, the State’s first non-profit organization dedicated to developing high-level service-learning projects in coordination with universities and junior colleges throughout the State.

In October 2008, Mr. Black was selected to be one of ten Outstanding Americans to receive the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Community Health Leaders Award. He was selected from a pool of over 800 applicants stemming from his work in creating Focus-First Vision Care Initiative, a foundation created to improve health outcomes by enhancing access to healthcare at the community level.
